Innovative and unique design

The unique Legend 2.0 Premium design is a perfect blend of stunning aesthetics and enhanced features. In addition to the elegant curved QD-OLED 1800R panel, the AW3423DWF monitor boasts improved cable management, 360° ventilation for better heat dissipation, and a new centralized OSD control dial (On-Screen Display) for easier adjustments. The customizable AlienFX lighting on the logo and screen size number on the back of the monitor enhance the gaming atmosphere.

We had very few criticisms of Alienware's original OLED gaming monitor, the Alienware 34 AW3423DW. However, the new "F" model, the AW3423DWF, addresses a notable concern by replacing the matte anti-glare coating that slightly diminished the impact of the impressive Samsung-supplied QD-OLED panel. This new version features a glossy coating, and the impact is substantial. Black tones are incredibly deep, and the HDR experience is truly captivating. The monitor truly lives up to the potential of OLED's per-pixel lighting control – it's truly breathtaking.

The Samsung panel also boasts commendable full-screen and nearly-full-screen brightness, a characteristic not commonly found in OLED monitors utilizing LG-supplied panels. The latter often struggle with brightness and can appear lackluster in certain scenarios. In any case, this Alienware monitor consistently maintains its vibrant appearance.

Furthermore, it offers all the expected benefits of OLED technology, including lightning-fast response times and impressive viewing angles. On the downside, the 3,440 by 1,440 resolution doesn't provide exceptional pixel density, and the ultrawide aspect ratio might not be optimal for console gaming. Concerns about OLED burn-in persist, though a comprehensive three-year warranty provides coverage. Additionally, this new budget-friendly version features a slightly lower refresh rate at 165Hz – a minor difference unlikely to be noticeable – and the removal of the Nvidia G-Sync chip, a change that is also unlikely to be missed.

Reasons to buy

+ Perfect black levels in dark rooms
+ Really fast pixel response
+ Good full-screen brightness

Reasons to avoid

- Room for a 34-inch ultrawide
- Not terribly high res
